This video is one of a suite of practical resources developed by the Materials and Embodied Carbon Leaders’ Alliance (MECLA) to support the delivery of low‑carbon concrete in real‑world projects.
Using a council infrastructure project delivered on a live council asset as a case study, this project focuses on how proper coordination and groundwork can facilitate the implementation of low-carbon concrete using established materials, standard specifications and conventional construction practices.
Rather than developing new requirements or trialling novel products, the project focused on making delivery visible — capturing how low‑carbon concrete can be organised, delivered and assured within existing frameworks.
This video demonstrates the planning and coordination that occurred before the pour, highlighting what needs to be in place before concrete arrives on site.

This project was delivered by MECLA in collaboration with the City of Newcastle. The project is supported by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources through SmartCrete CRC.
