Next generation precast concrete wall and column connections for multi-storey buildings
Date and Time: 16 September 2025 (12:30pm)
Location: Online
Lateral load-resisting systems such as walls and columns are typically connected using welded stitch plates, wet joints, and corrugated light-gauge steel grout tubes. Since these systems make up a significant share of a building’s overall cost, there’s a major opportunity to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
In this online session, Chair Olivia Wu (Reid ANZ) is joined by Scott Menegon (Swinburne University) and Aruna Dissanayake (Plastic Solutions Australia) to discuss their collaborative R&D project on innovative precast concrete wall and column connections, including the use of recycled plastic grout tubes.
Chair: Arun Arunothayan
Presenters: Scott Menegon (Swinburne University) and Aruna Dissanayake (Plastic Solutions Australia)
