Applications of Calcined Clay in Lower Carbon Concrete
Date and Time: 19 May 2026 (12:30pm)
Location: Online, Teams
With coal-fired power stations shutting down and steelmaking blast furnaces going electric, supply of by-products fly ash and slag is becoming constrained. The concrete industry is in need of new materials to lower the embodied carbon of concrete and support sustainability goals.
On May 19, 2026, Chair Arun Arunothayan chats with Camille Holt (Boral) and Paul Thomas (University of Technology Sydney) about their research collaboration. They’ll discuss how their project is exploring the economic viability, material properties and sustainability of calcined clay concrete.
