Annual Report 2023-24

SmartCrete CRC has come into its own.

In FY2023-24, SmartCrete CRC has made significant progress in investing in industry-led research collaborations that challenge the status quo of working with concrete, create new opportunities and deliver positive change across Australia’s concrete ecosystem.

Highlights include

• Invested $17.6 million (cash + in-kind) from Commonwealth, industry and universities
• Managed a portfolio of 36 projects across SmartCrete’s three research streams – Sustainable Concrete, Engineered Solutions, Asset Management
• Commenced 10 new research projects during the reporting period
• Completed 1 project bringing the total to 5 completed projects
• Hosted 2 “Pathways to Sustainable Concrete” funding rounds that resulted in 9 new projects
• Launched 3 Communities of Practice that have attracted over 200 participants
• Onboarded 25 PhD and 1 Masters students, expanding our student cohort to 35
• Collaborated with 67 industry, government and research partners across Australia
